Linkage disequilibrium (LD) score regression

A method that estimates the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) heritability of traits (which could be health-related or disease outcomes), partitions this heritability into functional categories, and estimates the genetic correlation between different phenotypes.

LD score regression estimates the heritability of singular traits and the shared genetic architecture between two traits. Genetic correlation between two traits can be induced through the existence of a causal relationship between those two traits; therefore, LD score regression can also be used to identify plausible relationships that can be followed up using MR methodology.
